When I was a kid, I remember myself seeing my mum crying with her eyes got red while peeling off onion skins. Of course I didn't know you tend to get it during peeling off onion skins at that time until I saw, asked and knew of the real situation.
This is the onion memory I have.
I'm very observant when I was still a kid, if I didn't judge wrongly. But now things around me don't seem so simple huh? or maybe people aren't so observant anymore as they age? Tired of observing things around them due to being so coped up with fun and work maybe?
I don't know.

Well, yesterday was the first Christmas I had away from home. Me and the Kuching gang didn't went back home because we will waste lots of time to go back and forth and don't enjoy much because the holidays are only a few days.
Hence, I started in the morning of yesterday celebrating Christmas at Hope Ipoh for their Christmas service, joined them for lunch, then buying stuffs for bbq in the afternoon with Alex and Sze Kiet.
After that, busying around with the rest of the gang for the bbq night. Played games, sang Christmas Carolling together. It was quite unusual than in Kuching somehow.
After that, it was late and I fall asleep for some long hours so easily. That's how Christmas this year was celebrated.
Yeah, let the Christmas spirit remain in us, for Christmas is the birthday of our Lord Jesus, who came All For Love. Get to know His everlasting love. Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year all!
Should make a new year resolution liao. 2009 is almost over. Whoa fast. Last post of the year?

At Here I Decided
If you ever came to my blog, you would realise that my last blog post was on November which basically indicates that I don't blog frequently. No, you're wrong.
I'm online now using another hostel's wi-fi. I here offically decided to continue my blogging hobby only after January 2010, after I finished my current semester and moved away from my current hostel, which have the lousiest wi-fi in the campus as compared to other hostels. The lousy wi-fi is so lousy that I sometimes can't even online in the hostel room.
Till then, in advance I wish to all Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

The Talk
Well, last friday night was the C.O.P. Farewell Night for July 2009 Semester. It was celebrated every semester for seniors leaving for internship or graduating.
Man, I still don't understand why it's so hard to blow a balloon until it burst as soon after u finished squeezing a piece of biscuits into your mouth and munch it so fast and what's in mind is telling you to blow the balloon to burst. My balloon only bursted after so long, don't know if i don't really have much stamina or the skill to do it.
But anyway, it's just a fun game. My wishes to the seniors, all the best no matter where you'll be heading to.

The night before the farewell night, after helping out a little and that, I went to the prayer meeting with the seniors for the first time. Well, thanks to Henry for bringing me there. It was quite something new for me, a daily prayer meeting of 11pm to 12am everyday. I think it's fairly important as it is a time of caring , encouraging and edifying of each other.
After it ended, Chia Ming brought me back. It's because my hostel is quite quite far from the prayer hut. Just to mention it here, it's one reason I don't really like my hostel. =o
During the journey, I had a talk with Chia Ming. Just to highlight the striking part.
To be frank, there's roughly 4 types of student you can be in the uni.
You can be a student that is...
1) very conscious of studies and to get CGPA of 4.0 and studys very hard, all the time.
2) super active in clubs and events, being Project Directors here and there.
3) thinking of fun and entertainment only.
4) passionate to serve our mighty God in church, leading people to know Christ.
Well, the fourth one is a good choice.
This verse is trully what I believed and experienced before. =)
Matthew 6:33
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
You seek God's kingdom first, and all will be added unto you.
Do not worry so much about your future, He already had His hands on it.
Hope you had your faith increased to another level.

I Just Don't Get It!
I looked at the mirror just now at myself. I still don't get it.
1)One night last week, just some days before the general election of MPPUTP(Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar Universiti Teknologi Petronas), a guy came knocking on my door. The first thing he said was not about why I should vote for candidate, but..
He: Are you a chinese? (A look of surprise he gave me.)
Me: Yea.. (Shouldn't you be promoting a candidate, holding papers and stuffs in your hands?)
P/s: Out of 6 candidates, 5 will be choosen. So why do they have to come for the few nights, disturbing people door to door? Kiasu people. They even gave notebooks and choki-choki to bride us.
2)Yesterday at Programming Lab 2. The lab assistant/tutor asked me, are you a malaysian? He's just curious, I think.)
P/s: Man, this is too much!
3) Today at v6 cafe. The cashier uses English for the first time to tell me the price and erm..everything like that happens to foreigners only. But not to my friends.
Do I look like a Malaysian? A Chinese?
This is complicated-ly hard. =D

By the way, I just knew my 1st sem results yesterday and it was better than expected. Surely, God guided me. Thank God for the results!!

The Inner Heart Speaks
I must say, since started college life till now, I learnt a lot. Real lot.
The malay pantunI learnt in around Form 1 or two which states "Banyak orang banyak ragam" is so so true.
In college, there are people who study so hard until there is nothing more to do besides lecture, assignments and study. Yes, I repeat, lecture, assignments and study.
There are also people who play so hard. Lol. Played online games until after midnight everyday and burn the midnight oil for finishing assignments and studying for tests.
For your information, my college only offers two courses IT and Engineering courses. Thus, there are certain immature people who keeps saying that THEIR engineering course is harder and they are like more dominant to my course.
Grow up. To these group of people.

The Dropped Chalk
This is a true story of something that happened just a few years ago at USC.
There was a professor of philosophy there who was a deeply committed atheist. His primary goal for one required class was to spend the entire semester attempting to prove that God couldn't exist.
His students were always afraid to argue with him because of his impeccable logic. For twenty years, he had taught this class and no one had ever had the courage to go against him.
Sure, some had argued in class at times, but no one had ever really gone against him because of his reputation. At the end of every semester on the last day, he would say to his class of 300 students, "If there is anyone here who still believes in Jesus, stand up!"
In twenty years, no one had ever stood up. They knew what he was going to do next. He would say, "Because anyone who believes in God is a fool.
If God existed, he could stop this piece of chalk from hitting the ground and breaking. Such a simple task to prove that He is God, and yet He can't do it."
And every year, he would drop the chalk onto the tile floor of the classroom and it would shatter into a hundred pieces. All of the students would do nothing but stop and stare. Most of the students thought that God couldn't exist. Certainly, a number of Christians had slipped through, but for 20 years, they had been too afraid to stand up.
Well, a few years ago there was a freshman who happened to enroll. He was a Christian, and had heard the stories about his professor. He was required to take the class for his major, and he was afraid. But for three months that semester, he prayed every morning that he would have the courage to stand up no matter what the professor said, or what the class thought.
Nothing they said could ever shatter his faith...he hoped. Finally, the day came. The professor said, "If there is anyone here who still believes in God, stand up!" The professor and the class of 300 people looked at him, shocked, as he stood up at the back of the room.
The professor shouted, "You FOOL!!! If God existed, he would keep this piece of chalk from breaking when it hit the ground!"
He proceeded to drop the chalk, but as he did, it slipped out of his fingers, off his shirt cuff, onto the pleat of his pants, down his leg, and off his shoe. As it hit the ground, it simply rolled away unbroken. The professor's jaw dropped as he stared at the chalk. He looked up at the young man, and then ran out of the lecture hall.
The young man who had stood, proceeded to walk to the front of the room and shared his faith in Jesus for the next half hour. 300 students stayed and listened as he told of God's love for them and of His power through Jesus.
You have 2 choices
1. Delete this and never look at it again.
2. Pass this along to your Christian and non-Christian friends, giving them encouragement we all need every day.
When you choose option 2, you have chosen to STAND UP.

The Moments I Disappeared

Well, besides the busyness of college life, another reason which adds up into which I don't blog that frequently is because the hostel's internet connection had gone worse than before. All the mood of blogging just fade away with this kind of lousy connection. Be grateful already if you have an average internet connection that allows you to facebook-ing smoothly.

One day I was quite boring so I made a brief survey on isotonic drinks with my samples,namely Excel, 7up Revive and 100 Plus.
I discovered that Excel contained the least energy and sugar level but it contains Vit C.
On the other hand, 100 Plus and 7up Revive contained the same energy but the sugar level of 7up Revive is the highest. 7up Revive contained Vit B3, B6 and B12 though.
On my opinion, 7up Revive is the best choice for isotonic drink.
Crazy me, I'm leaving now to study Programming.

Busy weeks had just passed like this. But for now, my assignments and projects are almost all done. And in less than 2 weeks' time, I'm having my finals for my first sem.
Nothing much had actually happened. For the first week of August, UTP was close down due to some positive H1N1 cases. Me, Melvin and Jack stayed at the ministry house of Hope Ipoh and went to a sight-seeing in Perak, Kellies' Castle.
Yesterday, me and my friends went to Gua Tempurung, another sight-seeing in Perak due to a sudden reason.

University Life In UTP
I'm settled down with my life now.
Right now, I can give you my definition of university life:
-the life where someone will never get a break due to having never-ending assignments, projects and tests at the same time.
Know what? University life is not a wonderful time where you can play most of the time because you'll suffer the consequences of doing everything in the last minutes, especially when you're under a sponsorship and you need to maintain a certain level of result.
That's why, I really learnt how to be productive, to multi-task, to learn some time management skills and lastly, to discipline myself to revise my lessons. And of course, to make sure my stomach is never empty. haha.
I really thank God that He's always there for me when I needed Him. His grace is sufficient for me. By God's wisdom and strength, I managed to get good results for my Business Management Test 1 last week. This really encourages me even more that God is always with me and so are to you all. I also felt better over choosing this rather than JPA, since the course offered, Computer Science requires me to study Physics and Chemistry, the subjects I dislike the most and weak in.
I'll be back next week. Yesh! but I have tons of work I need to bring back to finish in Kuching. UTP is crazy...

Pulled Through
I'm getting used to the patterns of my life now. Thank God.
I'm able to fit in the university's style of teaching. Thank God.
I have learnt how to manage my daily routine. Thank God.
All in all, thank God I had pull through the first few weeks over here.
And surely, He will help me in doing my assignments.

Today there is this event called something like Going-Back-To-School event in Kuching High, from 8am to 4pm. Too bad I can't go.

And after seeing the break schedule for my foundation, it seems that I won't be able to celebrate my birthday in my hometown nor joining the youth camp in december. Sigh. But I don't complain. As long God's with me everyday, nothing matters.
Seriously, I'm tired of walking at least 15 minutes to reach my lecture room from my hostel under the hot sun everyday on weekdays. (that is, if I'm walking in a fast pace.) It's as if I'm trained from very aspect here, be it physically, mentally or spritually.

After going to the cell group of Hope Ipoh, I feel better over the pressure I had due to assignments.
Thank God for everything.

Of PSD scholarships , SPM and blablabla..
I have been busy for this 2 weeks, seriously. I know that whether you're another student who applied for this PSD scholarship this year, parents of these group of students or just another Malaysian citizen, you must had heard of this matter.
Of course, year after year, this problem continues. Bright students who got 12A1s, 13A1s and above didn't get the scholarship, especially those who applied for medical, pharmacy and dentistry courses. And then political parties like MCA and MIC will lend a hand to these students to appeal to PSD and get the scholarships for them. Why is this happening? Why are there no solutions to this matter that happens every year? Why seeing this matter on almost every newspapers in the country around this time every year? Haiz...But I can only say that I'm lucky to get this scholarship and I'm not trying to boast out loud and offend people who didn't get it.
Then the news come in, where starting next year, those who go for SPM 2010 can only take up to a maximum number of subjects of 10. Then a new grading system will be carried out for SPM, where there will be grades like A+, A, A- and so on. Does this helps? whether it's called A1 or A+, the matter will still not be solved. You can see how it will happen on March 2011 then. Thousands will score 10A+s, and PSD will still face the same problem in giving away the scholarships. I think the solution would be increasing the marks for every subjects for getting A1 (or A+) to maybe 75 or 80 at the very least? Actually 65 is the mark you need to get to achieve an A1 in some subjects. Or maybe PSD should make it transparent about the list of applicants who got selected for the scholarships, to make it fair and square.(If it really was,then there will be no more havoc. =l)
Well, I will not say anymore longer concerning this matter and let this topic be closed everywhere please.
I even heard about a student from Seremban who changed her SPM result in the appeal letter and was caught for that action. She would be blacklisted I think, although she got 13A1s already but tried to change to 15, sad case.
But great news, I read the news where those who got 13A1s(total of 52 students only!) will get the scholarship automatically, whether did they appeal or not. While those who got 12A1s will have quite a high chance of getting it too.
The results of the appeal will come out on the 1st of June, I heard. Those who didn't get it may opt for apply the local one.
And there lefts a month for me in Kuching. Lol. Happy and sad.

The results of the appeal will come out on the 1st of June, I heard. Those who didn't get it may opt for apply the local one.
And there lefts a month for me in Kuching. Lol. Happy and sad.

Minutes In Kuching
Last night, there was a blackout in the house due to a cut of electrical supply for about an hour. Then I thought, if Sesco or Tenaga cut off the electrical supply for whole Malaysia during Earth Hour, how would it be like? Lol.
The weather nowadays is also so hot so without electricity, I wonder if I can actually survive. I'm not saying that I'm very dependent on air-cons, but at the very least I need a fan.
Starting from yesterday, I waited and waited for letters in the mailbox while going online. I'm going to check whether there's letters in the mailbox every now and then during daytime.
But what I got are letters from various universities or colleges promoting their universities or colleges so that I will go enrol. Irritating letters I receive from them.
So i began to think. I will definitely miss Kuching and everything in it, the foods(kueh chap! etc), the culture(where everyone say "lah"!) and the people.
Only about one and half a month left to stay in Kuching. Nice?

God Is Good
Summarized, I got to know that I got the offers from Jpa and Petronas at around 11.30pm last Friday. Instead of thinking and waiting for it starting 5pm of last Friday, I went to youth at uncle's house and checked the results when I got back home.
I was excited. Happy. So I messaged my friends telling them the results can be checked already.
Eventually I can't sleep until it was 6am.
Then woke up around 9am last Saturday without the alarm clock waking me up and felt excited for the whole day long.
Only after Saturday Night Service last Saturday, I got extremely tired and had a nice, continuously sleep of 12 hours.
Frankly speaking, I'm not a top student in school or in class, I'm not someone who is active in co-cu or had joined national-level competitions either. I can only say, thank God and praise God.
I won't be proud for this matter since my pride is in God and the only thing I will boast is the love, hope and grace from our Father in heaven.
All glory to God!
P/s: No offense to anyone or trying to be proud,but good luck to all no matter you got the sponsorship or not. I only believe God has a different plan for each and every one of us. He knows our future and He provides our needs differently. Once again, praise God! Indeed, He is Jehovah Jireh, our provider.

First Exciting News?
To my surprise, I received a letter from SinChew yesterday. I got all excited up after finding out I got the scholarship from SinChew. So happy I was for the whole day.
Last night, I went to church to hear from an invited speaker from S'pore, Pastor Joyce(i think). She was preaching with such lively-ness about how we should be having an ardent love for God consistently. Our heart may grow cold, but God patiently awaits for us.
Back to the scholarship matter.
Under this scholarship, I will be sponsored to study at LimKokWing Kuching campus for 4 years, which includes 1 year of foundation and 3 years of degree.
But.
This scholarship only sponsored the tuition fees, which means I have to pay the exams fess and other necessary fees by my own. But it's still a scholarship I may take considering the fact that I can be in Kuching, not having any homesick problems.
And also, I'll be waiting for jpa's and petronas' results and at the same time waiting what's God's will for me. Getting or not, it's God plan for me.

Sin Chew Phone Interview
At this week, I wasn't expecting to have anymore interviews because it was already the end of April. Looking at the posts in Recom I thought all selection for interviews were conducted, even Bank Negara and Sin Chew.
During about 4pm yesterday, I was in my room. I got this unknown number calling me which starts with a +03.. As I answered the call, I got to know it's from Sin Chew!
Caller: Hello is this Jason Lau?
Me : Yes.
Caller: This is Sin Chew Scholarships Department and I see that you are applying for LimKokWing University for Kuching Campus.
Me : Yes.
Caller: Unfortunately we are from Cyberjaya and we can't come to Kuching to conduct the interview. It will also be inconvenient for you to come over here. So if you don't mind I'll have a short phone interview.
Me : Sure. (that's very nice of them)
Caller: Can I conduct it now?
Me : Yes.
THE PHONE INTERVIEW
Caller: May I know about your family background?
Me : ~Repeating what I said in JPA and Petronas.~ About my father, mother and sisters.
Caller: I see that you have good academic results. Do you know about what is really the course you are applying? (Business Information Systems)
Me : Yes. ~Repeating what I said again in Petronas~
Caller: Good. Do you know what you'll be working about after you graduate from this?
Me : (Ok. This time it's a little hard.)I'll be managing the company's security system for the datas, creating systems for datas to be processed efficiently. I don't get chased by datelines too as programmers will work under me.
Caller: Ok. Now I would like to ask about some opnion of yours about Barack Obama. Do you know who he is?
Me : Yes, he's currently the president of USA.
Caller: How do you think he is doing as a President? Is he good?
Me : For now, I think he's doing ok. The economic situation is quite tough. We'll have to wait to really see what he's capable of.
Caller: Do you think he will retain as the president 4 years later?
Me : If there's a better candidate for that time, of course not. But for now, he's the best president I think.
Caller: Ok thank you that's the end for the phone interview.
Me : Thank you very much.
Seriously, I didn't really read news about Obama so I'm not sure how well are my opinions. Well, I'm just 18 this year and you can't expect me to be like economists to know how well is Obama doing. In fact, economists can't even predict the economic situation in the future. Thankfully my dad told me a little about Obama these few months.
I prepared for JPA's and Petronas', but the preparations are useless, nothing about recent news, jpa's or petronas' policies came out. I didn't prepare for SinChew's, but I manage to answer the questions.(quite la)Why like this?
Thank God I do not need to fly to KL for the interview. Money saved. Time saved.

Scholarship Season
I just read that there is a serious problem in Mexico. (what to do, I don't read news usually)There is this swine flu in Mexico and the condition is getting worse. That's bad.

Like what Yew King said, this is the Scholarship Season for us, spm and stpm leavers. Why? As the world develops and due to economy recession, the funds needed to pursue tertiary education has become very costly. Too costly to be affordable for common families.
After the results have been out last month, I've been applying, applying as many scholarships as I can for the theory says, "Applying more means more chances to get it.". Well, as you can see, scholarships are hard to get, whether it's 5 years back or maybe even 5 years from now in the future. The number of applicants for a scholarship is already very shocking.
Of course, I didn't apply for s'pore scholarships because the standard is quite high and maintaining the scholarship is very tough(provided I get it and as compared to other scholarships). The process of applying scholarships is rather hectic. I mean, although we are now very lucky as most scholarships can be applied on-line unlike people from previous years, it's still hectic.
Then the month of April sets in. I went for jpa's and petronas' interview. I must say, I learnt a lot from the interviews, starting from preparing for the interviews, gathering information to boosting confidence while speaking with eyes on me. I don't fear interviews as much as before I had my interviews. Cool, right? God will always be on our side, helping us to go through our problems. You see, looking at the cross and know what Jesus had done for us, our problems, our critical situations are like tiny little ants.
And next month, the results of my interviews will be out. I'm quite mentally prepared for all possible and impossible outcomes because God knows what is best for us, He sees the future and plan the best for us. What I get is the best for me.
I might get Jpa and study kl for 1 year and US for the next 3 years, or petronas and study at utp, perak. I'll study form 6 or opt for a loan and study at Swinburne if I don't get it. I mean, anything can just happen other than these plans I have. Remember what I said last time, "you can plan all you want , but you just can't fulfill all of them."
God's plan is above ours. But the trend today as I see it, some students are trying to get scholarships not because their parents can't afford to support them, but to try to show that they are worthy, clever enough to get a scholarship. And if they failed to, they think it's the end of the world. That's a very wrong way of seeing and thinking.
I'll be waiting for now. Only less than 2 weeks for me to know where I'll be heading to.

Petronas Educamp (Day 2)
April 13
Morning
Roy woke me up at 6am. Then I got myself prepared for the interviews and exams coming right on.
Want to know what's for breakfast? Spicy-styled fried rice with heavy chili taste again.
We were arranged according to sessions, groups and sequence. Some will do the test first while some the interview first. Mine's A-2-3. This meant that I'm the first batch for interview. Just like what I wanted. Yeah.
At 8am, me and my batch we ushered to the preparation room where we were given our case study. Given only roughly 30 minutes, all of us scribbled all the points out of our heads. While jotting down points, I saw people who can write points as much like an essay. Freaked out by that.
Then, we were ushered to wait and sit at the arranged chairs outside the interview room. It was the individual interview first so one by one had to go in. We were divided into groups of four. For this interview, each of us had to introduce ourselves, answer some questions and speak out our individuals points to the interviewer. Each of us had around 11 minutes for the individual interview.
Then came the group interview. All four of us went in and sat almost like a circle and just discuss our points while the interviewers assess and analyze our skills. Our topic was the increasing number of refugees and we had to discuss about the problems, solutions and conclusion. It was kind of fun actually. Everyone sort of arguing that their points were the best. Well, I wasn't the one who conclude all the points into one, big conclusion. Before I realize, the 30-minutes group interview ended already. Nice. It was roughly 10.30 am.
Then I went to rest in my room until lunchtime. The lunch was rice with curry again.
Afternoon
Then the test began at 1.30 pm. Once again being ushered to the test room.
It was like SPM exam. Sort of, just not that tense for the atmosphere. But people here were really smart people also.
First test was English Placement Test. It's a 1-hour test with 50 multiple-choice questions. It was slightly harder than the SPM English. More on grammar and verbal.
Second test was Verbal Test. It's a 30-minutes test with 60 multiple choice questions. It was quite like SPM EST questions, but harder. With given short articles, you have to determine whether the statements given were true, false or you can tell without more information. Quite tricky so I only finished it just on time. No time for checking at all.
Third and the last test was Diagrammatic IQ Test. It's a 20-minutes test with 40 multiple-choice questions. The IQ tests were those types where you are given four pictures and you had to guess the fifth picture. The first 20 questions were quite easy especially after you know the trick after observing real close for the pictures. I can't finished the last few questions so I had to tembak again.
Then left the place after filling a survey on how did you felt about the educamp. The food, the toilet and the test rooms were poor. The food were almost all chili or curry, the toilet had lousy flushing system and the test rooms had air-cons which were not cool at all.
At 4.30pm, I checked out of the educamp and went back home. Home is like a 5-star hotel.
Feelings for Educamp:
People last year can stay in Rajah Court Hotel with air-cons and astro.
We only stayed at small, non-air-cons rooms with damaged cupboards.
The toilets were limited for many rooms had to share them. Of course, no heater la. Flushing system also sucks. But well, I can understand it was due to the economic recession.
We also had an extra math or math and science test compared to last year.
So, study a bit on your add maths before coming if you're selected next year.
Thankfully I'm from Kuching, those from Sabah, Miri, Bintulu, Sarikei and etc had to came over here.
It was fun to join this educamp even if I didn't get this scholarship.

Petronas Educamp (Day 1)
First of all, I really want to thank God for being shortlisted for this educamp. The only thing is I had to skip church on celebrating Easter, the day our Lord resurrected from death.
12 April
Morning
I woke up at 6.30am and I felt quite tired. I can't sleep the night before so I went to watch the old James Bond movie on tv2. Too excited I think.
At 7.40am, I reached Akademi Binaan Malaysia, Semariang. The place was formerly the old UITM building. Then, I went in and lined up for registration and met Royston and Melvin from JPA interview. Then I brought my stuffs to my room and been introduced to my roommates, Albrinz and Royston. Room was ok, the cupboard was spoilt. Lousy la.
I gave the registrar my certified documents and I received a pillow case, mattress cover and a blanket. These are limited, so people who came late for registration would have to use their own ones.
Then had the provided breakfast with my parents. Nasi Lemak with sambal,salted fish and fried peanuts. Lousy one.
10.00am, I went to the auditorium for briefing on Petronas Corporation's stuffs. Watched a few videos on Petronas' corporations at countries worldwide. Had to sang National Anthem. Being introduced to Petronas' song which had repeated lines of "Petronas Maju Jaya"for the lyrics.(You can only imagine how boring the melodies and lyris are right?) Then, we were shown slides about UTP(Universiti Teknologi Petronas) and details on the scholarship. It's more like a loan but it will be a scholarship if you are bonded with Petronas upon graduation.
Then had the provided lunch with my parents. Rice with curry and some vegetables. Still lousy. After that, parents had to leave.
Afternoon
Then went to the auditorium with Melvin, Aaron and Royston for briefing on the interviews and tests that will be conducted. We're told that from the 8000+ applicants, only 1500+ applicants were shortlisted, only one third of those shortlisted will get the scholarship. I was shocked again as we were informed that only 155 applicants were shortlisted in the educamp for whole Sarawak and Sabah.
That news really shocked me because only me and Jun Wei were from Kuching High, Melvin and Aaron from Batu Lintang and Royston the only one from Stampin. Too competitive, huh?
2.00pm, We were divided to groups of about 18 or 19 for a facilitating activity to get us familiarise for the next day's interview. Met Claire again after meeting at JPA interview. We're in the same group for the activity. After that I found out there's only 2 teresians and 4 kuching townians got shortlisted. I felt very lucky la. The activity was kind of long and boring. Just a simple activity for you to gather everyone's information for a certain question which indirectly train your speaking confidence and style. It ended at 4 something.
Had tea break. Malay-styled fried bee hoon with heavy chilli taste. Not spicy but I dislike it.
Then at last can rest in my room until 6pm. After that, I bathed and get ready for night personality and math test. The math test were an extra new test added only starting this year. (So, for those next year, revise your add maths before coming)
Dinner. Rice with spicy-styled fried fish and some vegetables with curry sauce.
Night
Me, Jun Wei and another 22 were called to be separated during the test from those applying for engineering and geology courses. That means only me and another 23 were applying for business and IT courses. Even competitive for IT course. Walao.
We had personality test where we numbered the statements that most described us to the least one. It was like telling them our personality through filling the papers.
Then, me, Jun Wei and 22 business/IT educampers took the math test. Engineer-and-geology-courses-educampers took math and science test. It was slightly harder than SPM level because the time was shorter than SPM. Can't finish a few questions so I had to tembak.
Math test:
1 hour, 30 add maths multiple-choice-questions which are quite hard since it was four months ago I did a add maths questions. Thankfully it was multiple choice questions. Managed to recalled back while doing without any formulas given. Quite fun la. Everyone was like so shocked, including me.
Math and Science Test:
1 hour, 30 multiple-choice-questions consist of chemistry, add maths and physics. Kinda hard for the physics, commented by Roy.
Finished at 10.30pm. Had supper which was dried green bean soup(lek dao teng). But it was dry. It's like the usual green bean soup with the soup being filtrated. Crazy hor?
Then lights off. Had a hard time to sleep. I think I only slept after 12am. It was a special experience I say.

10.00am, I went to the auditorium for briefing on Petronas Corporation's stuffs. Watched a few videos on Petronas' corporations at countries worldwide. Had to sang National Anthem. Being introduced to Petronas' song which had repeated lines of "Petronas Maju Jaya"for the lyrics.(You can only imagine how boring the melodies and lyris are right?) Then, we were shown slides about UTP(Universiti Teknologi Petronas) and details on the scholarship. It's more like a loan but it will be a scholarship if you are bonded with Petronas upon graduation.
Then had the provided lunch with my parents. Rice with curry and some vegetables. Still lousy. After that, parents had to leave.
Afternoon
Then went to the auditorium with Melvin, Aaron and Royston for briefing on the interviews and tests that will be conducted. We're told that from the 8000+ applicants, only 1500+ applicants were shortlisted, only one third of those shortlisted will get the scholarship. I was shocked again as we were informed that only 155 applicants were shortlisted in the educamp for whole Sarawak and Sabah.
That news really shocked me because only me and Jun Wei were from Kuching High, Melvin and Aaron from Batu Lintang and Royston the only one from Stampin. Too competitive, huh?
2.00pm, We were divided to groups of about 18 or 19 for a facilitating activity to get us familiarise for the next day's interview. Met Claire again after meeting at JPA interview. We're in the same group for the activity. After that I found out there's only 2 teresians and 4 kuching townians got shortlisted. I felt very lucky la. The activity was kind of long and boring. Just a simple activity for you to gather everyone's information for a certain question which indirectly train your speaking confidence and style. It ended at 4 something.
Had tea break. Malay-styled fried bee hoon with heavy chilli taste. Not spicy but I dislike it.
Then at last can rest in my room until 6pm. After that, I bathed and get ready for night personality and math test. The math test were an extra new test added only starting this year. (So, for those next year, revise your add maths before coming)
Dinner. Rice with spicy-styled fried fish and some vegetables with curry sauce.
Night
Me, Jun Wei and another 22 were called to be separated during the test from those applying for engineering and geology courses. That means only me and another 23 were applying for business and IT courses. Even competitive for IT course. Walao.
We had personality test where we numbered the statements that most described us to the least one. It was like telling them our personality through filling the papers.
Then, me, Jun Wei and 22 business/IT educampers took the math test. Engineer-and-geology-courses-educampers took math and science test. It was slightly harder than SPM level because the time was shorter than SPM. Can't finish a few questions so I had to tembak.
Math test:
1 hour, 30 add maths multiple-choice-questions which are quite hard since it was four months ago I did a add maths questions. Thankfully it was multiple choice questions. Managed to recalled back while doing without any formulas given. Quite fun la. Everyone was like so shocked, including me.
Math and Science Test:
1 hour, 30 multiple-choice-questions consist of chemistry, add maths and physics. Kinda hard for the physics, commented by Roy.
Finished at 10.30pm. Had supper which was dried green bean soup(lek dao teng). But it was dry. It's like the usual green bean soup with the soup being filtrated. Crazy hor?
Then lights off. Had a hard time to sleep. I think I only slept after 12am. It was a special experience I say.

JPA Interview
***Forgive me for posting about this now after so long. I had a serious Internet connection problem and I had to call for Telekom Streamyx and an IT technician to check out my computer,modem and CPU for a few times. Now, let's just skip that.***
As stated in the JPA website, my interview's on 1st of April, 2pm at the State Library of Sarawak. And so, at the 1st of April, I reached the State Library at 1.20pm to get ready earlier. I entered the big building, walking to the desk and signed my name as a record for being present. Then, I went to find a place to sit and wait.
I waited and waited. 30 mins, 1 hour, 2 hours...
Groups over groups were called for interview. There were only a few of us left and the time was already 4pm.
I became nervous and I went over to ask the clerk at the desk. "Your turns are decided based on your birthdates." She replied. So, I just kept on waiting while having a few chats with another few who were also waiting for their turns.

At 4.15pm, me, Yee Ho and Hafi(last group of three) were ushered to the waiting room at the 2nd floor. There, we passed our certified documents and original certificates to the clerk-in-charge.
At 4.45pm, we entered the interview room and the interview began. First start, Each of us were given about 1 or 2 minutes to introduce ourselves regarding our names, schools, family backgrounds and co-corricular achievements in English
Then, we came to the Q&A segment. The questions were "Who is your favourite leader?", "If Jpa doesn't sponsor you to overseas but locally, would you accept the offer?" and "Is it a must for teenagers to use Facebook and Friendster?" There are no group discussions or debates. Just a simple answer with some reasons and points to support your view either in English or BM.
After that, we shook hands with the interviewers and left the room. We shook hands among group members and left the place. I applied for IT, Yee Ho's Engineering and Hafi's Social Science. Mixed-course-groups for JPA interview since only general questions were asked.
That's it. I left the place at around 5.15pm. The interview was quite short. Maybe it was almost 5pm or maybe there's only 3 of us in the last group. But anyway, I finished my 1st interview and the experience was quite enjoyable and nice.

Last wednesday, I was quite happy to find out I'm shortlisted for JPA interview on April Fool's Day. I mean, it's natural to be glad about it, right?
Then came the time I found out I'm rejected by Sime Darby. It's weird though. Sime Darby sent 2 emails to me regarding the period where the interviews will take place but I checked my status these few days on the website but I'm still rejected. So, why sending me the emails?
Then I found out I'm rejected by Tenaga.
Next, rejected by Khazanah.
Mixed feelings. Guess I can only prepare and do my best for the JPA interview.

Visits
Last Sunday, I went to pick my little sister from Sunday School. But I arrived too early, so I went in and and looked at the programmes while waiting. Uncle Peter saw me, walked to me and immediately ask how am I doing. Then came Aunt Suzy too. For the record, I've been in the Sunday School for merely 1 year, and they still got recognized me, although they forgot my name. =) But it had been 6 years ago plus I joined Saturday Night Service since March 2008. They still have a good memory.
Anyway, I have a document, needed to be certified by the principal but my principal's on a meeting at elsewhere this week. My interview will be on April Fool's Day. Hopefully I'm not going to get shot dead.

Shell Is Actually Open
Yes, to correct my previous post and also jump-over all the blames I will get if people follow and believe what I wrote.
From what I heard when I went to a talk on the night of 12 March, the speaker said the scholarship is not open for Spm 2008 candidates. I also read somewhere over the Internet that Shell scholarships are not open too.
But guess I'm wrong though. I wrote an e-mail to be 100% sure to shell and I got a reply that the scholarship is open for Spm 2008 candidates. It seems that I cannot really believe informations in Internet.

SPM 2008
It must be a little crazy of me for playing badminton for straight two days. I played with my school friends yesterday and with the church youths and college group today. That really explained why I can't stretch my feet as far as I wanted today. But anyway, badminton is still my favourite sport but it is considered as the only sport I've been playing for this recent years.
Anyway, back to the topic. It still seemed like yesterday since I got my results. I got my results on last thursday and here you go for the picture.

It was last thursday that I lined up to get my results and the first thing I do right after I got the result slip is definitely to glimpse through the grades. I'm happy for the results though, although I got a 4B for chinese, which is something many had said to me:" You shouldn't had taken chinese.". Obviously, I'm not a straight As student now. I'm also a little disappointed for getting an 2A for physics.
All glory to God that He provided me wisdom, guidance and strength to study for that the many months last year. I can only say that my results were good by God's grace and mercy.
I thanked my parents too they bought me all the reference books I needed and always giving me all the supports, advices and encouragement that no words can really describe them. My parents also supported me by not having me to worry about doing the chores or anything. My father picked me to and fro the school for sitting the papers and my mother cooked me lunch before sitting the papers in the afternoon. My sisters were also very encouraging for me to do my best.
My school teachers really helped a lot in helping me to understand the syllabus and how to score well for the papers, every section except for Science. All science-streamed students in Kuching High School take science for additional subject and we were required to study that alone. The teachers for every subject excluded science subject really put in the effort to teach me to score, especially BM where I'm weak that I got B for BM for PMR, Moral, History and Physics.
I would like to also show my gratitude to my classmates, best friends where I would discuss with them whenever I faced a problem with the model questions I've done especially when the teacher was not around. I mean, they were so much of a help that they can provide me the best explanations for the theories and concepts.
And also to Daniel Chong, I truly thank you, who wished me good luck for exam and guiding me to study. And not to forget all the people who wished me good luck.
Uncle Mervyn was also very encouraging, who taught me to take fish oil to boost memorising power, especially for studying Biology and History, it helped a lot.
Anyway,for those who would like to know, for Kuching High, there were 33 straight As student which included 2 students who got 13A1s and 9 students who got 12A1s.

Driving Terror
It was very clear that I passed my driving test and got my p license on friday night , which I thought I can drive.
On saturday night, I drove to church but only half the journey until my father took over the driving. I wasn't really ready. I need my father to sit beside me to drive for some time. However, after a few drives, it seems better now. Driving on a steep slope and roundabouts are still hard now.
Anyway, there is only about less than 48 hours before spm results are announced.
The moment of truth is here, where the results of my hardworks will be revealed.

During Driving Test
It was three days ago that I have my driving test. My tutor only told me about the test on last monday, just the day before I have my test. The good thing is I don't have much time to be nervous.
That morning, I woke up at 6.40am. After having my breakfast and preparing, my tutor picked me up on 7.30am. I'm the first one he picked, which gave me more waiting to do to pick up another two for the test as well. By the time we reached the driving institution, it's 8.30 am.
My patience was tested. After registering for the test, I waited until around 11.30am for my turn. I got route A, which of course is a good thing.
Around 11.30am.
I walked to the car no.2 and entered the car after the candidate came out. The examiner, who wore a uniform with almost no difference to a policeman, went out for a while after saying:"Tunggu kejap ya.". I looked at the front mirror and the rear mirror. "Nicely adjusted, I don't need to do anything to it."I thought.
After a few minutes, the examiner came in and I started my route test. I changed to gear 1, releaseing the hand brake and started my route. Everything was fine as I drove through the long, straight road. The examiner seemed inpatient for me to drive at the speed of about 40km/h. "Tekanlah minyak. Sampai 60."He instructed me. (Was he hungry for lunch?)
As I drove back, he ticked every slot except for two slots, which he crossed. I said thank you and off I went to have my next test. It was so hot. I ran to the bus stop and took a look at the result sheet I got. What the! a cross for not checking on the wiper and another for not checking on the mirrors. I felt so unfair, since my tutor didn't told me about anything and the mirrors are already in the best angle.

After another few sessions of waiting, I went for uphill, side parking and 3 point turning. Thanks God my uphill test was perfect.
At 2pm, the test ended and I passed all. Shortly today I will get my P license.

Finally, I'm now able to blog again. I just bought a new keyboard because the 8-years-old keyboard is too damaged to be used. So now I realise keyboards nowadays are soft ones, not the hard-pressing ones that irritates a lot.
Today, I spend the whole morning in the driving institution at Bintawa. My tutor told me I'm having driving test tomorrow. Wow, finally! I've been driving for about 14 or 15 hours. I'm just afraid if my engine's going to be dead for uphill.
Anyway, it will be only 9 days for ns campers to be back. I'm already rotting for almost 3 months and spm results are going to be out anytime. What is the main career I should go for? Are my choices the right one for me?

First time to do a long tag like this. Time consuming too.
At last, I got myself a new mobile phone bought by my father. It's quite a major upgrade for me which is from a Nokia 2100 to a SE W610. I personally choose the Satin Black colour because the orange one looks ugly. I'm really happy to have it now and I wouldn't want to have any scratches to it's screen.
Lately, I've spend some few minutes to read some news on MSN.com. I read about Chris Brown hitting Rihanna, Russian's satellite collided with America's satellite and America's spending US 789 billion dollars to save the economy. News still seemed boring to me.
I've spent about two and a half month of holidays already after I finish my SPM. I've heard rumors that the results will be out at Feb 26 or beginning of March. Time is really so close and I really have to set my choice for my main career. Just no more time for wasting time in the virtual world so often now.

Who's Evil, Men Or Power?
Have you ever watched the Heroes series? It's a series where humans are given the supernatural powers through a eclipse. From there, disasters began to happen.
It gets interesting when humans got themselves power, sufficient power to think they have the ability to save the world, knowing what happens in the future and trying to change the past and present to change the future they would like to see. If this happens, aren't humans like gods? In this situation, the human who got the most and strongest power will indirectly have the thoughts in mind that he or she would be god, to control the world in all the ways in mind and become evil. If you lived your life wrongly or making wrong decisions, it's natural you want to go back to the past and correct your wrong doings so you can have the life you want.
Is this alright? What kind of life is this if everyone plans for a perfect life by just going back to the past through time to correct everything. Everyone will be alike with superpowers and wars will definitely take place everytime.
I just finished watching Heroes for season 3 and everything seems to get clearer. Some parts of the series seems unlogic though. An eclipse occur again and the heroes and villains' powers were gone for a while. Heroes or villains, as ordinary humans, they are just weak creatures when they rely on themselves and their power alone.
What concludes this? Our Father God alone reigns!

CNY 2009
Chinese New Year is always something , something very enjoyable for kids and teenagers. We are only responsible for receiving red packets from the elders for luck and prosperity.
This year was quite special. Few days before the chinese new years starts, my eyes turn terribly red, which irritates a lot. I went to the clinic and my eyes got better. It was lucky that I can still went to church on that sat night before chinese new year.
On the first two days of chinese new year, I didn't go online. I didn't really went for visiting. Visiting sometimes are tiring. All I did was serving, eating and watching TV. On the third day, I came back to the virtual world-The Internet and first logging in to Facebook. Several attempts were made to log in but there was errors. Quickly I signed in to Hotmail. My Facebook's got spam and my account's been used to send spam message to everyone's wall.
Nice week though. On saturday, I went to cousin's wedding ceremony in St. Peter's and wedding dinner at Riverside. So I didn't went to church on saturday night and it feels different. Yesterday, my family and I send my sister back for studies at the airport. Separation is quite sad, no matter how strong you hold on your emotions.

More Movie Reviews
Somehow, for some, watching movies is quite a waste of time. Movies are simply some ideas from novels or books, written and made as an art in motion. For some, it really is irritating when the movies played on screen are so much different than the actual novel. Still, some are really good.
Movie #4: Fantastic Four
Another marvel heroes movie yet haven't beat Spiderman. So far, Spiderman is still the best marvel heroes movie, for me. This movie had received many bad critics mainly because the movie somehow focus on the love relationships between the superheroes characters. My favourite superhero here would be Human Torch because I had like heroes to give out fire, red-hot fire. Nothing much I could say for this movie. Not really a good movie to watch. I hope to watch Iron Man.
Movie #5: Wall.E
Another cartoon movie that presents yet another cute charater, Wall.E the robot. Furthur allow me to write about a short synopsis of this movie. According to the movie, due to the bad condition of the earth, humans had created a gigantic, hi-tech spaceship to sustain life for humans in space while a group of humans will take up the job of "curing" and "healing" the planet, earth. Unfortunately, the plan failed and the earth is no longer a sustainable place. Those living in the spaceship, travelling to the outer space are controlled by auto-robots. One amazing this for this movie is probably the very, VERY little dialogues. Funny at the beginning, touching at the very end. 9/10 rating.
Movie #6: You Don't Mess With The Zohan
Adam Sandler plays another comedian movie. The best part is the accent. The movie is briefly about a highly-skilled top Mossad agent fakes his own death so he can move to New York and become a hair stylist. You just feel like laughing every time he dances. 9/10 rating.

Movie Reviews
Movie #1 : Bolt
At first glance, the movie poster had attracted me with its cute characters, followed by a special title, "Bolt". The title gives me a first impression of high speed. This cartoon-movie is my favourite compared to others. Bolt, the dog was rather pitiful as when he is not aware of what world he's living it. In other words, he's lost and unaware of that due to the lies of the truth. Mittens, the street cat is quite smart. As for Rhino, the hamster, the number one fan of Bolt makes me laugh all the time. This movie is really a good combination of cuteness and comedy.
Movie #2 : The Day The Earth Stood Still
The title is already very tempting at first look. Understand what it feels when a movie has a very grand idea, yet the way of presenting it is still not good enough? The idea of the human planet, where is governed by unknown ruler of other galaxies is really cool. The human planet can just be destroyed once and for all if humans fail to live accordingly. Too bad the idea was already use in a sci-fi movie back in 1951. At the end of the movie, I have mixed feelings of amazement and dissapointment. "I should have watched yes man."

I am already aware that this movie, once aired in 1999, was one of the coolest movies ever seen. I missed this movie back then and only get to watch it on tv recently. Imagine that, a stimulated reality forms a world called "Matrix", where if you died in that world, you die in the actual world. The action part was rather amazing, especially when it's a movie before year 2000. The application of law of physics and superhuman abilities are what making the movie even better.

New Year, New Motivations
First of all, I wish everyone a happy new year, hoping everyone can take this new year as a new challenge.
In conjunction, please kindly remember to put on your seat belt when you are sitting at the back of the car or you'll be fined at a high price of RM300. I seriously think that this new law is really stupid anyway. Does putting on seat belt actually help to reduce the impact for the people sitting at the back? Plus, this is just making the enforcers of the law even richer.
Many things had happenend now: Friends leaving for NS and for study, PMR results are out, students are now back to school. As for me, no school!
In the period of one month, I had gone for badminton with friends 4 times, watching movies 3 times and eating lunch and dinner with friends. My pocket money immediately went empty. Spending is really fun if you really have lots of cash.
